Acoustic tubes are typically used in communications systems as a simple convenient and discreet way of getting audio signals to the ear. It is used by security forces, broadcasters, and motor racing teams and can be fitted with open (so that surrounding noised can be heard) or closed eartips for use in high noise environments.
